Our Year Two Journey thus far...
Semester 1, 2014
In Harmony Dreaming the students of Year Two have worked collaboratively to deepen their understanding of and appreciation for the unique environment found on Earth in order to help them live as conscientious custodians. Throughout term one, the students immersed in opportunities to explore the Earth’s elements of air, water, fire and earth, which are vital to sustaining life on Earth.
Working briefly as Astronomers, the students have learnt more about our Earths role within the solar system. From exploring the Earth’s rotations to the way we orbit the sun, the students were able to grasp a better understanding of the way our planet works, such as day and night and time.
The students of Year Two have continued to deepen their understanding of Biodiversity, working as horticulturists within our Perma Patch. This included caring for our eatable gardens, tending the chickens and planting out our autumn crops. These efforts have helped them to reduce their Food Footprints, whilst increasing their ability to produce their own food at home, all of which will help them to reduce their impact on the Earth whilst caring for all living things.
